direct student services
The Student Services Department is centered on providing academic, career, college, and personal/social services to students. Our team composed of Professional School Counselors and a Licensed School Social Worker strive towards meeting the needs of all students through individual, small group and large classroom group intervention and instruction in an effort to prepare students for future success in life after high school. Some students do need additional services and our department is key in identifying these students and providing a helping hand. We work with students in the following areas:
In the event that a student feels unsafe or is being repeatedly targeted and harassed by another student or group of students please complete this online form.
More on academic and behavioral interventions:
East Rowan High School has a Student Assistance Team composed of a counselor, administrator, EC teacher, and additional teachers focused on identifying students with profound academic or behavioral difficulties. The purpose of the Student Assistance Team is to implement targeted academic/behavioral interventions to meet the needs of the struggling student. Parents may request that their student be referred to the team for review.
Students with a disability are eligible for accommodations provided under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. The purpose of a 504 is the ensure students with disabilities receive an equitable education that adequately meets the needs of students and parallels the education received by students without a disability. A 504 plan is created with a team of educators composed of a counselor, administrator, and teachers (a teacher must be present to write a 504). Parents that have a student with a disability and believe that their students disability interferes with their success in school, should contact their students counselor. Our approach is to start with the Student Assistance Team to determine if targeted interventions can meet these specific needs before moving to a more intensive 504 plan.
